Comcast Helps Boys & Girls Clubs Bring Tech and Opportunity to Local Youth
At Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County, we believe every young person deserves a place to learn and grow. Thanks to a generous $20,000 gift from Comcast, our Clubs now have stronger internet, new laptops, and more ways for kids and teens to use technology in creative ways.
Four of our Clubs—in Yelm, Lacey, Rochester, and Tumwater—are now part of Comcast’s Lift Zone network. These spaces give youth access to fast WiFi and digital learning tools that help them do homework, learn new skills, and explore their interests.
“Kids today are growing up in a digital world,” said Mike Babauta, BGCTC Director of Resource Development. “They’re more tech-savvy than ever. We want to make sure they have the right tools to explore their passions in a safe and positive way. Thanks to Comcast, the Lift Zones in our Clubs are helping kids learn and connect with the world around them.”
Lift Zones are part of a national effort by Comcast to close the digital divide. More than 1,250 Lift Zones across the country now provide free, high-speed internet and learning resources to help young people and families succeed.
“When kids have access to technology and caring mentors, there’s no limit to what they can do,” said Shellica Trevino, BGCTC CEO.
We’re grateful to Comcast for believing in our youth and helping us open new doors for learning and creativity.
